After a few hours of play, I find this game quite interesting and still in development mostly. The game should not be sold as a finished product, as it is but I find things (many) that In my opinion, this game should still be in (Early Access)...
Playing in creative mode, (more like using god mode) as in other games where you are indestructible and have access to all materials (you normally have to scrounge around for) in the playing of a regular game. I use this mode to give myself a start as to how, where, and use of the interface and what stuff does. The game does give some starting pointers and very vague, imo other instructions. So, I have to cheat lol.
I did notice when I started playing a regular game, when you die, you do re-spawn at a different place where you died and have to go looking for your dead body so you can get back everything you were carrying. Until one gets to know what the aim of the quest is, you may die a dozen times, which can get on one's nerves and be disconcerting. What I find very funny is how game play is exactly in Osiris: New Dawn. I find it very odd that things would be very similar and makes me wonder if there is collaboration between Hello Games and Fenix Fire or who is copying what from who lol.
Osiris: New Dawn also has the same multi tool which is used exactly the same way as No Mans Sky... cloned or copied from each other? I begin to wonder. It can be used as a mining tool and a weapon and you have to switch via a menu but you can designate by keying this to any number from 1 to 9. Much easier.
Another thing I noticed, similar to Osiris: New Dawn, Is that one cannot remove the suit or helmet, how one eats... Now, later on, when I visit other planets and supply depots, may be another story.
Habitats are pretty nice and building/buildings readily snap together pretty much with out problems. Furniture, chairs, tables and computer stations are build-able, but when I try to sit in a chair, it just spins lol and even though one can build a bed, it will not give you the option to sleep ^_^........WTF!
So far, my only means of getting around is by foot or the star-ship given at the beginning of the game. Flying around with it is not much of a task. As I only use a keyboard and mouse, I find it easy just using the 'W' key for boost and thrust, and the 'S' key to slow down and the mouse to control left/right movement. Flying around, I find the area to explore is quite vast with much Flore and mountains and the graphics are not to shabby also. Graphics are very nice visually as well as outposts I came upon, not clunky at all.
So far, I find myself quite into this game and looking forward to more exploration before I actually go into space to see what I may encounter...
'No Mans Sky', I find is not really a war monger game... only need to fight when your life is in danger... which may not appeal to everyone. Mostly one builds, makes friends with the locals and animals and gets some reward for doing so. Explore planets: some very hot, some very cold, some watery. The thing is maintaining the integrity of your space suit and space craft buy acquiring minerals, updates to both by visiting space stations and exploring etc. The multi-tool extracts minerals from flora and fauna discovered on the planets so you can maintain your 'stuff'......... The build menu's consist of everything you may need to live in... habitats, bio-domes, base markers, and save points. furniture, lighting, iii quite a bit imo.
More...... I recently played an hour or two and found out you can fabricate animal food that you can give to the local live stock one comes across. After feeding them, they seem to follow you around and actually poop as they follow. (lasts for several minutes) This stuff supposedly one can fabricate into other stuff that may be useful. As of yet, I have not had access to a cooker you can fabricate these other items. I have to gather materials in order to be able to fabricate a cooker first, then I can cook locally gathered flora into an edible form you can eat. What a novel idea in the game I did not expect. With abilities in the game like this really makes (for me anyway), a game I can really get into.
This game, (so far as playing) I can see it's not for some people that like games such as fighting foe's and making war on other factions and winning. To me, it is a game that allows one to explore new things, not found in other games. Remember now, that I am playing in exploring mode, that allows you all free materials and essentially a 'God' mode. One can also play a regular game, harder, and a real hard survival mode. I play in explorer mode so I can get the full value of the game and see for myself, everything I can do with out dying and starting over all the time. People love being tasked, trying to stay alive and all, but this style of playing does not suit me at all. So, I look forward to continue playing the game the way I do and and continue this blog and mention things I find interesting through out.
After paying the game, ~ 30 hours now, I'm finding so many things one can do. One thing I found is you can create a farm, domesticate local animals and sell them to several factions to get money. Nice!
Travel to many planets, cold/icy, stormy, hot and hotter planets... Have to keep your suit upgraded so one can survive all these different worlds. On very watery planets, one can build underwater habitats, build a submarine so one can explore under water etc. I haven't tried that yet. Also space stations, one can travel to for commerce, like upgrading your space ship... buying frigates, and freighters and can even acquire your own armada.... to fight off pirates and or become a tyrant/dictator and create your own area of terror in and around your base planet. Awesome!
